What manoeuvres are included in your practical test?

You’ll also be asked to do one of 3 possible reversing manoeuvres The ‘reverse around a corner’ and ‘turn-in-the-road’ manoeuvres are no longer tested, but you should still be taught them by your instructor.

This is a quick video explaining how to do the Turn in the road manoeuvre for the UK DSA Practical Driving Test.

  1. PREPARE: Into 1st, little gas, biting point. (Clutch control)
    OBSERVE: 360 degree effective observations. When safe…
    MANOEUVRE: Release handbrake, steer quickly right to full lock (No dry steering) Prepare to brake on opposite side of road. About 1 metre from kerb steer quickly to the left as you brake to stop before the kerb. Handbrake on.

  2. PREPARE: Into reverse, little gas, biting point (Clutch control)
    OBSERVE: 360 degree effective observations. When safe……..
    MANOEUVRE: Release handbrake, steer quickly left to full lock (No dry steering) Prepare to brake on opposite side of road. About 1 metre from kerb steer quickly to the right as you brake to a stop before the kerb. Handbrake on.

  3. PREPARE: into 1st,little gas, biting point (Clutch control)
    OBSERVE: 360 degree effective observations. When safe…….
    MANOEUVRE: Release handbrake, steer right enough to bring you to a normal road position and if its safe……..gently accelerate away.
